I am excited about speaking at a Vancouver Historical Society event on the many historical aspects of Journeys to the Bandstand. I will talk about how the book chronicles personal histories of the city’s great jazz artists and the history of Vancouver’s jazz scene. I will also talk about my research techniques. As part of the presentation, I will read excerpts from Journeys to the Bandstand, show some of the book’s numerous images, and play snippets of recorded music that inspired me throughout my journey of more than a decade researching and writing the book.
