On September 25, 2025, I delivered a presentation on Journeys to the Bandstand to the Vancouver Historical Society (VHS).
It was such an honour to speak about the book as part of the VHS lecture series. The society’s motto: “Preserving and promoting the history of Vancouver since 1936.” It’s amazing to be part of that mandate.
During the very well-attended talk at the Museum of Vancouver, I gave an overview of the book and highlighted some of the venues and musicians I wrote about, in words I spoke and images I showed.
That night, my voice was quite croaky, which was challenging to deal with during the one-hour talk. But I immensely enjoyed the event. Enormous thanks to the Vancouver Historical Society, Elwin Xie for his expert tech support (and taking photos, including the one with this post), my wife and daughter for selling the book that night, and all who attended.
